Beauty Basics For Healthy Skin pt. 4

Let’s do a small recap on the previous Healthy Skin Steps;
Basic Step 1: Keep your skin clear of any junk, makeup, or foreign objects.
A good makeup remover is a must-have if you intend on having healthy skin!
Basic Step 2: Exfoliate your skin once every week.
Exfoliation helps to unclog your pores, and regulates the rate at which your sebaceous glands provide your skin with the natural oil called sebum.
Basic Step 3: Cleanse your skin daily
Sometimes twice a day. Your cells re-generate every day, and you shed skin cells. If you’re not cleaning you’re skin every day, you’re creating the perfect living environment for acne.
But now it’s time for the next step…
You won’t believe how easy, yet important this step is!

Healthy Skin Step 4: User a Toner

Your skin has what’s called an acid mantle made up of sweat and oil that you naturally produce. After using a cleanser, these oils are stripped away, changing your skin’s pH balance. However, your skin will recreate these oils within a few hours, whether or not you use toner.

Skin Toners come in all shapes, sizes, and consistencies. Go for the one that works for you!

Why do we Tone our skin, then?

If you have very oily skin, a toner might help keep shiny skin in check.  It’s a mine-field out there, when you are trying to find the product that you need, especially since the term “toner” can be used to refer to several different types of beauty aids, including traditional toners, astringents and fresheners.
Traditional toners consist of moisturizers, oils and extracts that help soothe your skin.
Astringents, which are generally alcohol-based, tighten the skin and pores and remove oil.
Fresheners work similarly to astringents by tightening the skin, but they are made of ingredients like caffeine and green tea instead of alcohol.
All of these different products can fall under the toner umbrella, it’s easy to see why toner is touted for tightening and moisturizing the skin — as well as maligned for drying it out. You may have heard a lot about toner working to balance the skin, particularly after using a cleanser that can throw off your pH balance.

What are the properties of a good Toner?

In order to choose the right toner for your skin, look at the product ingredients carefully. If the product contains a great deal of alcohol, then you are probably using an Astringent toner. Be sure that you are using your toner properly, in order to get the best results.
A good toner is a toner that remedies your skin issue. So if you have excessively oily skin, then an Astringent works! If you have really dry, flaky skin; you’d probably go for a Traditional, more creamy toner. And if you have combo, or sensitive skin, I recommend trying Bella Terra Mineral Cosmetics Pore Refining Toner. It’s like a Freshener, and Traditional Toner all in one.

If you happen to be an acne sufferer, you’ll find that your T-Zone is quiet oily, however your cheeks, and chin are dry, but break out the most! If, just like me, you have this problem, then I sincerely recommend that you give the Bella Terra Mineral Cosmetics Pore Refining Toner a go!
It might seem like a Bella Terra Mineral Cosmetics review, but I have to tell you, I am really in-love with their product range, when it comes to Skin-Care!
I have tried many other brands of products, some high end, others simply drug store remedies that don’t cost a pretty penny, and I am just particularly infatuated with Bella Terra Cosmetics’ attention to detail.
Bella Terra’s Pore Refining Toner is an alcohol-free toner that gently tones and instantly rehydrates the skin. First, it sweeps away dead surface skin and smoothes over rough, uneven patches. Then, it penetrates deep into pores to visibly reduce their appearance for clear-looking skin.
Infused with soothing menthol and chamomile, it will leave your skin felling cool, clean and refreshed, that’s the Freshener part I guess…

How to tone your skin well

  1. Make sure that you’ve patted your face dry (after cleansing) with a towel designated for your face.
  2. Apply the toner onto a cotton ball, or a cotton swab, and
  3. First begin wiping away any excess oil from the T-Zone area, then
  4. Wipe gently on the cheeks, neck, and surrounding area.

This Toner really works best when used with the Bella Terra Milky Cleanser.

We’re almost at the finish line! It’s been one heck of a journey, but we’re really almost at the end, and my promise is that; at the end of this journey lies clear, healthy, supply skin!

Good luck on your quest, and remember; The B word is for Beauty!
